
Netflix CEO in Israel to oppose production legislation
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is in Israel and has achieved with President Isaac Herzog and Minister of Communications Yoaz Hendel at the president’s home in Jerusalem. Sarandos is striving to influence Hendel not to move ahead with laws necessitating international streaming solutions like Netflix to deliver original content in Israel.

Sarandos listened to what Israel is scheduling on the concern and he discussed that legislation could hurt Netflix’s ideas to extend investment decision in Israel. Netflix is worried about the precedent and Sarandos sought to explain how the business is already cooperating with neighborhood market in acquiring information and why legislation could final result in lowered expenditure.

The prepared laws follows the conclusions of the Folkman Committee that it creates unfair opposition for Israeli Tv providers that are expected to commit in primary productions, even though the intercontinental streaming giants are not. Hendel explained to Sarandos that the laws was created to produce an equal playing field for Israeli and intercontinental businesses.

Sarandos’ visit was planned ahead of it was acknowledged that the present Knesset was staying dissolved. The Ministry of Communications experienced hoped that the new laws would be portion of the Financial Arrangements Bill that accompanies the 2023 budget but it is now unclear regardless of whether the laws can be enacted this calendar year.
